Sinclair Ancestors in the North-East of Scotland

Jane Sinclair (1825-1899) married my gg-grandfather William McPherson Bremner (1825-1887). She was the daughter of Hugh Sinclair and Margaret Walker in Banchory Devenick, KCD.

The Sinclair name is not common in that part of Scotland, and I suspect that Hugh may have originated in Caithness, but inasmuch as he died between 1841-1851 and no record of his parents has been found, that is still speculation. His occupation varied as agricultural labourer in 1841, to road surveyor and mason journeyman.

As there are a number of Sinclair descendants in the Aberdeen area, the puzzle may eventually be solved!
